What I got for my 23rd birthday

I turned 23 last week (Yayyy I am aging…) and I wanted to share with all of you the couple of bits I got. The definite highlight is the Tarte Tarteist Pro Amazonian Clay palette (which was actually part of my wishlist). I have been obsessed with this palette for quite a while now. I love the variety of shades, there are a lot for a natural look, but also a few to spice things up for a night out. The mirror is amazing and if you’re like me and you do your makeup sitting on the floor surrounded by makeup but can never find the hand mirror you bought (this is just me? really) then this is perfect! The shades are really pigmented, a little powdery just like the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette, but nothing too terrible or unfixable.

The second present I was really excited about is a Makeup DIY book called Make it Up: The Essential Guide to DIY Makeup and Skin Care. I still haven’t had the chance to really go through it and read full sections, but I can’t wait to try some of these. The reason my boyfriend got it for me, was not really because I would apply any of the recipes or techniques, but because he thought I could use it for inspiration for my blog (he has no faith in my ability in the kitchen), and it’s true and I love it! Have any of you tried doing your own makeup??

I also got a pack of small Moleskine plain notebooks in pastel shades – I wasn’t able to find the exact ones but mine is a set of three in pink, purple and yellow. I love anything stationary and I always find a need to write things down. Lists, ideas, quotes, anything. Or I just find silly excuses to buy more notebooks and notepads. I am currently using the pink one to write down blog ideas and plan them out. I usually don’t have much of a strategy when I write these, but I think it will be useful if for i.e. favorites, I write down the list of products before I start writing and taking pictures.

The fourth item is a little pouch, case, not sure the word for it. I love the design on it and I’m sure I’ll find something to put in it. The zipper goes all around it so there will definitely be space for a lot of things, maybe some travel makeup to keep at hand.

Is there anything you’ve loved that you got as a birthday gift? Let me know if the comments below, I love birthdays and I’d love to know.
