Gigi x Maybelline Collection – Review

Hello agaiin! Welcome back to my blog, or hello for the first time! If you missed my last post, I discussed my top three bronzers and you can read it here. In today’s post, I will be giving you my honest thoughts on the Gigi x Maybelline collection. I’m sure you’ve seen it all over Instagram, and you’ve watched a million YouTube videos trying to decide if you need this in your life. The reality is that I only purchased one product of the collection, mainly cause I ain’t got money to be buying everything, but I hope what I have to say helps you make up your mind!

Sorry these came out so yellow!

The one product I picked up from the collection was the Taura lip kit (lipstick & lip liner). I loved how this shade looked on Gigi and I was really excited to find it at my local Ulta, which is the main reason I ended up getting it. The formula is really creamy, if you haven’t tried other Maybelline lipsticks, they’re usually really good quality. The shade is really pretty, and it really is a perfect nude for my skin tone. The one thing I didn’t love about the lipstick was that it wasn’t as matte as I’d hoped. I imagine Gigi needing a really matte, transfer-proof lipstick, and this is not it.

On the other hand, the lip liner is really nice, it glides on super smoothly, and I love that they’re available together as I’m rubbish at matching lipsticks with lip liners.

The other products I was excited about but decided not to get, was the West Coast Glow Eyeshadow Palette in Warm. I saw some really gorgeous looks created with these shades and I like how it comes with three mattes and three shimmers. If I run into it I might pick it up, but I’m not dying to have it. This palette looks just like the new Maybelline City Mini Palettes, and I have one of these in Rooftop Bronzes and I really love the quality of these eyeshadows.

A product I wasn’t excited about was the Jetsetter Travel Makeup Palette. This is supposed to be an all-in-one palette, but I just can’t see the appeal. The pans for the bronzer and the blush are so narrow, I would have the hardest time getting the product off. I also think the little brushes it comes with are a bit useless and not something I’d use to apply it. I do have to say the tiny mascara is extremely cute, but unless they plan on releasing mini versions for you to restock on it and put back on your palette, once it’s over, it’s just extra space you’re not using.

The first video I watched was from one of my favorite beauty YouTubers – Tati aka GlamLifeGuru – and she’s one of the most honest YouTubers out there. I definitely recommend watching her video if you’re thinking about getting anything from the Gigi x Maybelline collection.
