Hello again everyone! If you missed my last post on A Series of Disappointing Products, you can find it here.
As some of you know, I’ve been a little MIA because I am back home in Colombia and have been traveling around a bit. This post will be a quick one, I really don’t have much to say about nail polish but thought I’d share with you my favorite shades. I’m not really one for a lot of variety so you will notice that all these shades are pretty similar, some would say identical, but if you’re like me, you have this idea of your perfect shade and try out different ones until you find the right one.polish but thought I’d share with you my favorite shades. I’m not really one for a lot of variety so you will notice that all these shades are pretty similar, some would say identical, but if you’re like me, you have this idea of your perfect shade and try out different ones until you find the right one.
In my case, my perfect shade is a white nail polish with a hint of pink. I don’t know why, but I’ve been obsessed with it for a while now. It all started with Essie’s Fiji, I think Fiji is the pinker one of the ones I will be listing, and the other ones have just been variations of Fiji as I try to find my perfect shade. Fiji is described on Essie’s website as a “creamy pastel pink polish.” I’ve had two bottles of this one and has been my all-time favorite for a couple of years now. I think I first started using it my Sophomore year of college and that was over three years ago.
The next on the list is OPI Let’s Be Friends. I can’t remember how I found this one. I think I was browsing the black hole that is Instagram’s Explore page and stumbled upon it. This is part of OPI’s Hello Kitty collection so it might be a little hard to get. I ordered mine through Amazon. This one is a little whiter than Fiji and I love it!
My most recent addition is Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel in Little Peony. I saw this at the grocery store and it looked so perfect in the packaging that I just had to give it a go. I keep looking for an even whiter shade than Let’s Be Friends and I was hoping this was it. Sally Hansen has amazing nail polishes, the formula is really nice, they have thick brushes which make application really easy. The shade is pretty similar to Let’s Be Friends, but I actually think OPI’s might be a little whiter but not by much. Since Let’s Be Friends is not so easily available, I do use this one more as I don’t want to run out of the other one. I have experienced with this one a lot of bubbling when I do my nails myself. I recently had them done by a professional and there was still a tiny bit of bubbles developing. Not sure the reason why.
And in my obsession with white and a hint of pink nail polish, I of course, have a white nail polish in my collection of all-time favorites. My favorite white is Essie’s blanc. It’s a really pigmented white, there’s no need to have more than two layers to have it looking completely opaque which I think it’s great. Some whites can look a bit milky and streaky and I don’t like that. Essie’s website describes it as “full coverage, pure snowy white lacquer.”
I do sometimes venture into the dark side but it doesn’t happen very often. I stick to these shades most of the time. I think they make me look a bit tanner and I think there are a lot of people just as obsessed as me with these types of shades. I see a lot of Instagrammers rocking them on a regular basis.
What’s your favorite brand and shade of nail polish?
