Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm Review

Whenever I type in titles for products reviews with really long names, I feel so bad for you lovely people reading this post, but I hope you know if there was a way to shorten it…. I’d shorten it for you. I recently received a sample of the Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm because it was one of the products in my March Sephora Play! It is one of those products that I am still not 100% sure how I’m supposed to use it. As the name says, it’s a “finishing” balm, but the idea of putting something creamy on my full makeup face terrifies me – can you imagine this mixed with bronzer and highlighter? Helloooo mud face! – So I haven’t tried it for it’s intended purpose.

The usage guide also says that it can be used “as the first step of makeup to smooth and prime.” And that’s exactly what I’ve been using it. Some reviews on the Sephora website complain about it not mixing well with their foundations, and I can see that being the case if you use a full coverage foundation, but I use a CC Cream and it does exactly what it says it’s supposed to do. I love the smooth finish and I love feeling my skin because it feels lovely and I don’t feel like I have a face full of makeup (which is a good thing because I hate that feeling). I also feel like it provides my skin with a bit of protection and moisture so that it looks better throughout the day.

The full-size product sells for $36 and it’s a decent size, would probably be considered small but you only need so little of this product, the full-size would last a very long time. I will definitely be purchasing once I finish my sample.

Have you tried this before? I am very curious to know how people apply it when they use it after finishing their makeup. Leave me a comment below letting me know your thoughts. Don’t forget to like this post and follow me on Instagram if you don’t already!
