Favorite Hair Oils – How I Keep My Hair Looking Healthy

Hair is one of those things that is always a mystery. Whoever figures out exactly what hair likes should get an award. As I try to understand my way around hair, I’ve tested a lot of hair products to make it look the way I like. One type of product I’ve discovered in recent years are hair oils – hair oil for shine, hair oil for frizz, hair oil for nutrients, hair oil for everything. Keep reading to find out what my current hair oils are and don’t forget to like this post at the end if you enjoyed it!

The first thing you must know about me and my hair is that it has been a journey. I added highlights to my hair when I was about 16, I also had an ombre stage that damaged my hair a lot, and also balayage. My hair has gone through a lot of bleaching and it needs all the help it can.

Vitamin E

The first ever hair oil I tried was OGX Vitamin E Penetrating Oil. I absolutely love this. I went through about two bottles of this, and I just think it was everything my hair was needing at the time. It just gave me nutrients I wasn’t getting elsewhere, it tamed it and made it look pretty without much effort, and it also gave my hair a subtle shine. I took it home to Colombia during the summer and I left it there for my mom to use thinking I’d come back and repurchase it. I haven’t been able to find it anywhere since I moved to Oregon. If you have a chance to pick this up, make sure you do! It’s a great product and your hair will thank you.

Since I’m unable to get my favorite oil, I branched out and picked up another OGX product. Currently, I am using the OGX Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum. I watched someone on Instagram recommend this, so I decided to give it a go. Have you tried it? I am always afraid oils are going to weigh down my hair, but this is not an issue with this one! Much like the Vitamin E (although not as good), it helps my hair look a bit more alive and healthy. I think dullness is something w can all relate to, and these are the type of products that can help you in that department.

Next is a hair oil I first tried a sample of and ended up really enjoying. It is the Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil. Unlike the OGX Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum, I use this one more as a styling product. Whenever I straighten my hair, or whenever I curl it, I always use this to add the finishing touches and make my hair look a little more tamed. If you’ve ever curled your hair, you know once you’re done it can look a bit frazzled because of the heat, this is the perfect thing to apply afterward.

The final product is the newest one I’ve added to my collection. I use this one when I air-dry my hair, after I apply Coconut Milk while wet, and my hair still looks a little too frizzy. It is the Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum. This one focuses on the frizzy part (I know it seems like they all do the same thing, but I swear they don’t).

There is another hair oil I’ve wanted to try because it has been raved about all over the Internet, and that is the Ouai Hair Oil. Have you tried it? Let me know in the comments below!

Hope you enjoyed this post! I am always looking for ways to make my hair look healthier, so don’t forget to share. Have you tried any hair oils recently?
