There’s nothing I love more than a dewy makeup look. I’ve tried the matte way, but that life is not for me. As someone with dry skin, moisturizer is my best friend, and having a hydrated base is super important. While on this post I will focus on makeup products, make sure you also keep your skincare in mind when trying to get the perfect dewy look. At the moment, I have been alternating between the Pond’s Dry Skin Cream and the Ole Henriksen C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème. Sometimes I will use an oil or essence, but let me know if you’d like to see an updated skincare routine. These are the products I have been using to achieve the perfect dewy makeup look.
1. Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer
It took me so long to find the right primer for me. The first ones I was aware of, all had that silicone, pore-filling texture, and I hated them. The original Smashbox Photo Finish Primer was included in EVERY subscription service, but it never worked for me. Then, I decided to try the Too Faced Hangover RX primer, and while I liked it, I wanted more. This is when Allana Davison recommended the Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer. The Primerizer not only hydrates, but it also leaves my skin feeling plump and smooth. It softens dry lines and stops makeups from settling into pores. If you have dry skin and have been looking for the perfect primer, check this one out!
This is the perfect primer for a dewy base because it makes skin look so healthy and alive. If you have oily skin, I would actually recommend a more mattifying primer as the rest of the products will provide more glow, and having a primer controlling your natural oils will help. 2. L’Oreal Makeup Lumi Glotion
The Lumi Glotion is a recent find for me, but it is the most perfect product for a dewy makeup look. This looks so beautiful. I’ve used it all over my face and also focusing on the spots where I would normally highlight. You can use this before your makeup or after as a regular highlighter. There are four shades available of the Lumi Glotion – Fair, Light, Medium, and Deep – and I use the shade Light. The main reason I use Light and not Fair is because Light is a bit more golden while Fair looks more pink.
This Glotion also provides a bit of hydration, I wouldn’t say that’s its main focus though.
3. IT Cosmetics CC Cream
I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving the IT Cosmetics CC Cream. Ever since I started using it almost two years ago, I have been obsessed. This CC Cream provides the most beautiful, even base. I only use a tiny little bit to get an even canvas for the rest of my makeup. If you’re unfamiliar with the CC Cream, it is has “color-correcting full coverage, anti-aging skincare and SPF 50+ UVA/UVB broad-spectrum physical sunscreen.” I mean, what else do you need… The CC Cream hasn’t always worked out for people with oily skin, because it can get a lot more dewyer throughout the day, but don’t worry, IT Cosmetics released a matte, oil-free version!
The main downside of this product is the lack of shade range. While it is called a CC Cream, it does feel a lot more like a foundation where it isn’t sheer enough to get away it a small shade range. At the moment, there are only 7 shades available and deeper skin tones are not represented at all. Definitely something I hope IT works on in the near-future.

4. Pixi Beauty Glow Mist (*gifted)
To be honest, I was a little skeptical when I first tried this, but after using it once, I fell in love with it. This mist will literally make you look sweaty. The good kind of sweaty. The healthy kind of sweaty. It feels so good on the skin, and it really is just one step to the perfect dewy makeup look. If you used the Pixi Glow Mist, there would be no need for you to use any of the aforementioned products. You could use a full face of matte products, end with this mist, and you’ll have a beautiful dewy look.
I would not recommend this one to people with oily skin. This mist is super oily, and if you produce your own oils naturally, you will look like a sweaty mess five seconds after applying this. They just released a Rose Glow Mist, but I haven’t tried that one just yet.
5. Ciate London Dewy Stix
The Ciate London Dewy Stix is a highlighting balm that creates the most perfect dewy, glowy look. It has no shimmer, so it literally just gives a wet look. The formula dries down to a non-tacky texture. It is available in three shades – Glow, Gleam (Gold), and Lustre (Rose Gold). My favorite is definitely Glow, the one with no color, no nothing, and it looks so beautiful on the skin. A must-have for the perfect dewy makeup look.
These are the five must-have products for the perfect dewy makeup look. I think using all five at once might be a little too much, but you can take your pick and try the ones that work best for you! If you’re not a primer type of person, then just skip to the glotion and the highlighter.
