**I received these products complimentary from RealHer, but all opinions are my own.
A couple of months ago, I received a very exciting package from a brand I hadn’t tried before. I will be honest and say that I don’t try “non-mainstream” brands very often. My makeup shopping is limited to Sephora, Ulta, Walmart, and Target, so unless the brand is available at any of these stores, I’ve probably never tried it. In the package I received, there was an eyeshadow palette, a lip liner, lipstick, and a liquid lipstick. This post is not sponsored in any way, I just wanted to share my thoughts on a brand I hadn’t tried before, and maybe encourage others to try out less-known brands that don’t get talked about very often. Let me know if there are any brands you’ve been curious about, and if there’s anything you’d like me to try out!
Do Your Squats Eyeshadow Palette ($28.00)
I love how cute the packaging is. This palette has some really pretty neutral shades and a couple of shades that are a bit more out there if you want to spice up your look. One of the shades, Terrific, actually reminds me of a shade in the Tarte Cosmetics Tartelette Toasted palette. When I tried these, they were very easy to use, they are not super pigmented but the shades are very easy to build up. I don’t use an eyeshadow primer, which I think it’s important to point out, and I did notice that after a full day of school (about eight hours), the shadows did seem pretty faded. Not sure if an eyeshadow primer would make a difference.
There are two other “themes” available. One is Be Your Own Kind of Beauty and I Feel Beautiful. The one I received I think is my favorite. I probably would not repurchase this palette. Although I loved the way it looked and how it worked out in my eyes, I think there are more affordable shadows with a stronger lasting power.
I Am Fearless Matte Liquid Lipstick ($18.00)
The box I received was close to Valentine’s Day, so the lipstick products are very pink and follow that theme. This lipstick shade is probably my absolute favorite shade in any lipstick. I find berry shades to be so flattering. I love the packaging and the applicator. It was easy to apply, and although it is a deep shade, it wasn’t hard or messy. I know a lot of people are put off by lipsticks that are hard to work with or get all over the place. This wasn’t like that at all. It lasted well throughout the day. The way I prefer to wear matte liquid lipsticks is to dab some of the product onto my lips, and I just find this to be the most comfortable.
I would definitely repurchase this product. There are 12 shades available. There is a good variety of nudes, bolds, and pinks, and of course, I’m Ambitious, your classic red.
This is my favorite product that I received from RealHer. With the matte lipstick trend, I had forgotten what it was like to not feel like my lips were breaking at the end of the day. This formula is so comfortable but still pigmented. I find that the appeal with matte lipsticks is how pigmented they are, but if you’re looking for that pigmentation and comfort, I definitely recommend you try these out. With ingredients like Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, Shea Butter, and Jojoba Seed, it is the perfect lipstick to give your lips back some nutrient. The shade I received was a plum, and it wasn’t patchy, or hard to work with. Really enjoyed wearing this one and would repurchase and try out different shades.
I Am Unique (Wine) Lip Liner ($12.50)
The last product I received was a lip liner that perfectly matched the other two products. The formula was very creamy and smooth. Lip liner is not a product I reach for, and use VERY rarely, so that’s the only reason why I wouldn’t repurchase this product. I literally never wear lip liner, even though I wear lipstick every day. Are there any beauty staples that you don’t find the need for?
If you noticed a pattern, you would have noticed that the name of the RealHer shades are all empowering messages. I love that! I think right now, women supporting women, and just people supporting people is so important. What better way to do that than spread that message in the makeup products that we love. Also, 20% of the RealHer profit is donated to the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
In addition, most of the products are vegan.
