If you’re anything like me, you have struggled with finding the right setting powder for you. I hate the way powder looks on my skin, or I guess, I hate my skin looking powdery. I’ve tried THE most popular setting powder, the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder and it just sits on top of my skin. For the last couple of months, I have limited my use of powder as it just doesn’t look right, but it is always good to be able to set your concealer, especially on those long days. A recent release from Hourglass Cosmetics has everyone hyped up. Including me. I love everything I have tried from Hourglass and I had high hopes for this product. If you’re curious about the new Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder, make sure you keep reading!
As usual, after the Sephora Spring sale was over, there was a bunch of products that became interesting and attractive. One of those being the Hourglass Veil powder. This is a recent addition to the Veil family. I’ve had a few chances to try the Veil primer, and it really creates the most perfect canvas for your skin. Because of this, and the great reputation Hourglass powders have, I had high hopes for this one.
Let’s start by discussing the beautiful packaging. I don’t know how many times I will rave about everything Hourglass does, but here it goes again. The packaging of the Hourglass Veil Setting Powder is stunning. It is so classy and luxurious. While designs for loose setting powders tend to be messy, this one is not AS messy. Emphasis on “AS.” If you shake this too much, it will get messy, but it will require a lot of shaking. As long as you don’t shake it too much, you should be fine. The lid is the branded Hourglass copper, and the sifter is in the shape of an H. So classy. I also find it to be really lightweight and not as bulky as say the Laura Mercier powder.
The Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder makes some really big claims. It is said to blur the appearance of pores and everything else you’d like blurred; prolong makeup wear; it has an invisible finish perfect for all skin tones; and it can also be used to bake your undereye if that’s something you like to do! Unfortunately, there are some of these claims that I can’t test, like is it good for every skin tone, but I can say it bluuuurs everything! The effect this powder has one the skin is amazing. I’ve used it for my undereye and it just looks like nothing on the skin. My preferred method of applications is a beautyblender, just the tiniest bit, and then I press that into my skin.
As far as I can tell, it is pretty transluscent, but I can’t say for sure that it would work on deeper skin tones. If you have a deeper skin tone and you’ve tried it, make sure to let us know in the comments if it worked out!
I. LOVE. THIS. POWDER. It is the powder that I have been looking for for so long. I love the way it doesn’t look on my skin. It gets the job done while remaining invisible to the naked eye. Yes, Hourglass is an expensive brand, but powder goes such a long way, and I think powder can either break or make your makeup look. It is one of the few makeup products that I think it is important to invest in. So if you’re in the hunt for a great setting powder, give the Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder a chance! You won’t regret it.
