Lipstick is the makeup product I accumulate the most. Usually, lipstick is affordable unless you’re getting some Christian Louboutin lipsticks. Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved wearing lipstick. Last year, I discovered Colourpop and I got A LOT of liquid lipsticks from them. They were just so cheap, I couldn’t help myself. My lipstick drawer was getting out of control, and I noticed a lot of these lipsticks went unused. It was time for a lipstick declutter. Today, I will be sharing my lipstick declutter. Let me know if you’d like to know which lipsticks I kept!
The Colourpop Cosmetics Ultra Matte lipsticks are still a favorite, but they can be extremely drying. I believe they have changed the formula a bit, and they’re not as drying anymore. During my lipstick declutter, I got rid of a lot of lipsticks in this formula. The shades I no longer own are Beeper, Kapow, Lumiere 2, Are & Be and Fresh Cut. A lot of these are no longer available so I won’t be linking them. I still love Beeper. It is one of my favorite shades, but it was just so drying. I might pick it up again and see if the formula has changed.
In the Colourpop Ultra Satin formula, I decluttered Chandelier, Calypso, and Barracuda. This Colourpop formula has to be my favorite. It has the pigment of the ultra matte, but it is not drying The only reason I got rid of these is that I didn’t think the shades suited me. I have gotten a bit paler now that I am living in Oregon, and so the shades that looked good on me before no longer do. Also, I am pretty sure some of these were part of trios or bundles I got.
There were other Colourpop lipsticks I decluttered in some of their other formulas. I found that their Ultra Blotted lipsticks don’t have the best longevity, meaning, the actual product doesn’t seem to be working as well as it used to. I LOVED Split, but now it looks so patchy.
Some other lipsticks I decluttered were Revlon Ultra HD Seduction and Eternite, NYX Soft Matte in Copenhagen, Huda Beauty in Bombshell, Kat Von D in Lovesick, and NYX Lingerie in Honeymoon.
In the case of the NYX Soft Matte lipstick, I found it to be extremely patchy. I picked up a dark shade, so I can’t speak about the lighter shades, but this formula did not work for me. The Huda Beauty liquid lipstick didn’t wow me. I had high expectations, but it didn’t feel that much different than my Colourpop lipsticks.
What this lipstick declutter has taught me is that I need to stay away from the Colourpop website. It is hard to know if a lipstick is going to suit me based on the image on the website. I’ve been enjoying the lipsticks I’ve gone into the store and swatched a lot more. I think it is easy to get excited about affordable prices, but it can be so wasteful. Are there any brand’s products that you have purchased just because of the price?
