Favorite Hair Oils – How I Keep My Hair Looking Healthy

Hair is one of those things that is always a mystery. Whoever figures out exactly what hair likes should get an award. As I try to understand my way around hair, I’ve tested a lot of hair products to make it look the way I like. One type of product I’ve discovered in recent years are hair oils – hair oil for shine, hair oil for frizz, hair oil for nutrients, hair oil for everything. Keep reading to find out what my current hair oils are and don’t forget to like this post at the end if you enjoyed it!

The first thing you must know about me and my hair is that it has been a journey. I added highlights to my hair when I was about 16, I also had an ombre stage that damaged my hair a lot, and also balayage. My hair has gone through a lot of bleaching and it needs all the help it can.

Vitamin E

The first ever hair oil I tried was OGX Vitamin E Penetrating Oil. I absolutely love this. I went through about two bottles of this, and I just think it was everything my hair was needing at the time. It just gave me nutrients I wasn’t getting elsewhere, it tamed it and made it look pretty without much effort, and it also gave my hair a subtle shine. I took it home to Colombia during the summer and I left it there for my mom to use thinking I’d come back and repurchase it. I haven’t been able to find it anywhere since I moved to Oregon. If you have a chance to pick this up, make sure you do! It’s a great product and your hair will thank you.

Since I’m unable to get my favorite oil, I branched out and picked up another OGX product. Currently, I am using the OGX Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum. I watched someone on Instagram recommend this, so I decided to give it a go. Have you tried it? I am always afraid oils are going to weigh down my hair, but this is not an issue with this one! Much like the Vitamin E (although not as good), it helps my hair look a bit more alive and healthy. I think dullness is something w can all relate to, and these are the type of products that can help you in that department.

Next is a hair oil I first tried a sample of and ended up really enjoying. It is the Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil. Unlike the OGX Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum, I use this one more as a styling product. Whenever I straighten my hair, or whenever I curl it, I always use this to add the finishing touches and make my hair look a little more tamed. If you’ve ever curled your hair, you know once you’re done it can look a bit frazzled because of the heat, this is the perfect thing to apply afterward.

The final product is the newest one I’ve added to my collection. I use this one when I air-dry my hair, after I apply Coconut Milk while wet, and my hair still looks a little too frizzy. It is the Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum. This one focuses on the frizzy part (I know it seems like they all do the same thing, but I swear they don’t).

There is another hair oil I’ve wanted to try because it has been raved about all over the Internet, and that is the Ouai Hair Oil. Have you tried it? Let me know in the comments below!

Hope you enjoyed this post! I am always looking for ways to make my hair look healthier, so don’t forget to share. Have you tried any hair oils recently?

  • New #dermae goodies! And #texturetuesday if you swipe left ⬅️ I have been loving trying out new skincare, especially moisturizers and anything hydrating. I got sent two @dermae products, both with anti-aging qualities. How do you feel about anti-aging skincare?
🍃 The Advanced Peptide and Collagen Moisturizer helps soften and smooth the appearance of wrinkles. Also, includes antioxidants to help support healthy collagen. Even if you are young and don’t have visible wrinkles, it is super important to be preventive! I haven’t used this one yet, but it felt really nice on my hand and I can’t wait to use it.
🍃Also received the Firming DMAE Eye aloft. This cream lifts, firms, and tightens the delicate eye area. It has #hyaluronicacid which infuses a surge of cooling eye moisture. I have used this a couple of times and really like the way it feels. While it isn’t super heavy, it does feel really hydrating.
Thank you so much #dermaesocial 🙏🏼
  • It’s a new week and I am still dealing with my cold 🤦🏻‍♀️Maybe I’ll be cured before the end of the year 🤞🏼What is one thing makeup/skincare related that you struggle with? Something you can’t make look right. For example, for me it is concealer. I have tried so many different things (still testing some), but this is the one area of my face that looks the worst at end of the day. I also feel like it’s a very important one as I want to make sure I get those under eye circles covered, but don’t want it to look cakey. Let’s help each other out! Give me your concealer tips and I’ll try to help you! 👇🏼

  • Happy #Sunday! A little #throwback to the end of the summer when I had a fresh tan (that has now faded) and was playing with the @hourglasscosmetics #scatteredlight shadow in Smoke. Only used some bronzer and the #hourglass shadow to add a little something. Love how easy these were to use. I had no trouble with fallout throughout the day or longevity.
I hope you all had a very relaxing weekend ♥️
Feliz Domingo!
  • Happy Friday! I hope you’re on your way to a lovely, relaxing weekend. Any plans? I will be doing homework and playing with some makeup. These are all products I have been using for a while now and love. Still obsessed with the @thrivecausemetics eyeshadow palette. The quality is amazing and you really don’t need anything more. Can’t go wrong with the @marcbeauty bronzer. It has to be one of my all-time favorites. @maybelline has some of the BEST mascaras and the @beccacosmetics highlighters are the most beautiful.
Feliz Viernes!
  • #SaturdaySkinGiftedMe What’s the last skincare you tried? A little skincare, a little newness. The @farmacybeauty Green Clean is my favorite way to take off my makeup. I then use the @freshbeauty Soy Face Cleanser. their Peel Gel - and I really liked how gentle it was. My skin was not red afterwards and it is just a very satisfying feeling. I would only do this maybe once every couple of weeks but it is a nice complement to my routine.
NEW - the @fur_you Silk Scrub (gifted). This is a gentle exfoliant to be used 2-3 times a week on your body. It can also be used as a mask, but I see myself using it after I shave. I’ve only tried it on my hand so far and I was very impressed by how gentle it was. It didn’t feel scratchy. And I LOVE the packaging. It is so practical and hygienic.

  • Sharing an #motd today! If you’re not familiar with @colourpopcosmetics, they have amazing quality eyeshadows and so many eyeshadow palettes to choose from. They also always have sales going on and just amazing quality. Other great #drugstorebeauty products include the @physiciansformula #butterbronzer and #butterhighlighter. The bronzer is so good and they released new shades this year. The @lorealmakeup lumi glotion is amazing if you like the glowy makeup look. It is a dupe for the #charlottetilbury Hollywood flawless filter.
What are your favorite drugstore makeup products?
