In case you missed last month’s unboxing – you can find it here.
For this month’s Birchbox I decided to try the curated box again. I’ve realized that Birchbox has a set number of samples they keep rotating and everyone is going to get them at one point or another. I’ve seen the same products over and over again during different months and different people. I liked the products in the curated box and I knew there weren’t going to be any repeats so I decided to give it a go. This does take away a bit of the excitement of finding out the products you’ll be getting, but there’s also not a way to be disappointed since you were happy with the products to begin with – which is why you chose the curated box.
I’ll stop annoying you with words and tell you the products I got.
These were heavily promoted by Birchbox when they first came out, and I was curious about them but not enough to actually purchase one. I got the shade Lusty Rose. The whole concept behind this product is that the one lipstick contains two shades, making it look like you’re wearing lip liner. I did test this out, and honestly, it’s a really pretty shade and a nice formula, but the two shades end up blending together making one color. The description card this two-in-one lip liner results in a “visibly fuller pout in just one swipe.” Not true. Has any of you tried this? I’m really interested in knowing your thoughts!
I really don’t think you can go wrong with a moisturizer – I do have dry skin so I love trying new things, but I am easily impressed. The full size of this product does cost $34 so it’s probably not something I would purchase, mainly because I use moisturizer every day and at $34 the bottle that just sounds expensive. It smells delicious, but I do know it’s a scent that it’s not for everyone. The scent makes it seem more like a body lotion than a face moisturizer… Is this a body moisturizer?? Now I’m confused – the description doesn’t specify and directions just say apply to skin…. Skin where??!!
This is probably what I was most excited about from this box. I am a huge Bumble and bumble fan (thanks to Birchbox), and I’ve even recently purchased a full-size Shampoo (the Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil one). I am definitely a lazy girl and I like to sleep more than I like getting up and doing my hair in the morning so I can’t wait to try this and see if it gives my hair a little more oomph when I let it air dry. The description says, “Thanks to a blend of lightweight polymers and plan-based conditioners, this cream is perfect for those air-dry days when you feel like skipping heat styling, but still want a textured and bouncy ‘do.”
I don’t know when I became such a Charcoal slut, but anytime a product claims to be “charcoal something” I’m sold! I’ve bought masks, cleansers, bar soaps, and exfoliates because they have charcoal. I don’t even know what this does or if it’s good for my dry skin…. If anyone can provide any insight on this, I would appreciate it! Buuut I did try this product last night and I really liked it. It has this thick pieces of something (aka apricot seed powder) that exfoliates my skin as the charcoal cleanses. Unlike other drugstore exfoliators I’ve tried before, you can’t really feel the things that are supposed to be scrubbing the dirt off of your face. You could definitely feel them here. It was also pretty quick and easy, something to do in the shower perhaps.
Last and least…. a perfume sample. Am I the only one that just doesn’t feel like these should be counted as “samples”? There are so little I can’t even test it for a week to see if I get any compliments on it. I’m not the only one who does that.. right?
I hope you enjoyed this month’s unboxing! Let me know what products you got in the comments, if you’ve tried any of these before, or if you just wanna say hi! And don’t forget to like this and follow me on my social media… I know, I’m so needy.
