I work a 9-6 job every day of the week except for the weekend. I like to sleep. And I often oversleep. I try to keep my everyday makeup routine to the smallest amount of steps possible, but somehow I keep adding steps instead of taking away. Before I put all this on my face, I do use some skincare products that I will write a post about in the next couple of days. I am fortunate in that I don’t have a lot of skin issues or “imperfections” to take care of, so I usually just cleanse my face in the morning, toner and moisturizer.
Once the skincare part is done, the makeup part begins. I still haven’t found a primer I really like so I didn’t include one here. I only recently started using foundation, and it’s not even really a foundation, it is It Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream in the shade Light. I use a beauty blender to apply, I used to use a Real Techniques brush but I noticed that it looked streaky so I invested in a beauty blender and it is a lot better.
In the last few months I’ve been trying out a couple of different concealers, but high-end and drugstore, and I finally was able to get my hands on the Tarte Double Duty Beauty Shape Tape Contour Concealer. It goes so smoothly onto the skin and it blends into your skin so easily. It is great coverage and I have it in the shade Light as well as I wanted to use it to lighten up my face as well.
I then use Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder. I usually just take a big fluffy brush and apply all over my face, there have been a couple of items that I have tried baking only the undereye, but I’m not too sure about it yet, so I don’t do it every day. During the week, I don’t do much contouring, I do own Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit in Light to Medium but I just don’t have enough time to make sure everything blends well. Instead, I use Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer to add some colour to my face. I apply it in the same areas that you would the contour but more freely. The last face item I use is Physicians Formula Butter Blush in the shade Plum Rose. It’s not a very pinky shade, not peachy, and I absolutely love it. Strongly recommend it for someone looking for a darker type blush.
During the week, I don’t use eyeshadow because I think that just like trying to do a cat eye, you need to have enough time to do it with no pressure to make sure it turns out good. Instead, I use Benefit’s They’re Real Tinted Lash Primer before applying two coats of Too Faced’s Better Than Sex Mascara. This mascara has been my absolute favorite for a couple of years now and I keep repurchasing it. I have tried others that I’ve liked, and every once in a while I try to stick to drugstore mascara if I’m trying to save, but I always end up going back to Better Than Sex.
The last step, eyeliner. I’ve always been a waterline eyeliner type of person, but I have a really hard time finding eyeliners that stay for extended periods of time. If anyone has any recommendations, pleease leave a comment below! You would be doing me a huge favor. The one I am currently using is NYX Tres Jolie Gel Pencil Liner in Pitch Black because Kathleen Lights recommended it in a video (her videos are great BTW – I mentioned her in my Top YouTube Channels post), but it has been a massive let down. It doesn’t go on smoothly, I have to trace my waterline multiple times and sometimes apply more pressure than I would like.
If you have any alternatives to the products I am currently using please share them with me! I always want to try new things and I am always looking for an excuse to buy new makeup products.
